Normal APTT value of patient receiving Heparin therapy?


An APTT test has been ordered for a patient receiving IV heparin therapy. What should be anticipated therapeutic APTT values to range from: (pls. have some explanation if any)
a. 12-25 secs
b. 25-38 secs
c. 50-80 secs
d. 120-150 secs

The answer to your question varies by institution and indication for heparin. In our institution, the goal aPTT in acute coronary syndrome is 60-90 seconds. aPTT is VERY lab dependent.
