Could I have a thrombosis in my vein?

I had a Iv in november and developed a bump where it was also where they tried to start one the drs think its a thrombosis or scar tissue they want to do physical therapy and use a medication patch is the hospital that i had it in responciable?

Signs of an acute thrombosis include significant swelling, redness, heat and pain...not typically just a lump.

Many people form scar tissue from IV punctures and I would consider this a normal risk of the procedure unless your vein was actually infiltrated which would have resulted in immediate pain, swelling and diffuse bruising a few days later (not just at the IV site).

I doubt it is a DVT. But if they REALLY think it's that, they should send you for a doppler ultrasound before doing any PT.

Sadly, yes. But there are several factors involving you too. Did you remain reasonably still at the arm with the intravenous (IV) site? Were there incidents when the IV tubing got stretched beyond its limit? Did you notify the health team as soon as you felt discomfort on the affected site?

Still, it was good that the iv site was noticed.

You need to clarify whether the physical therapy and medicated patch are for the bump or to manage your medical condition/ surgery. I have a feeling that it has more to do with your diagnosis, rather than with the thrombosis.
