I am having a cat scan done AND I AM ALLERGIC TO THE IVP DYE the dr treated me with pregnisone andbenadryl i? |
i just want to know if i will be fine I guess only time will tell. Did you know you had a allergy to the dye, or did you find out after it was already in your body? The hospital staff once told me that the dye was water soluable & that I shouldn't worry about it, but I didn't like the sound of it & decided not to get the test. Maybe you could just call your Doctor's Office or the nearest Hospital & get a better answer to your question. So, how did things turn out for you? Are you Ok? Hope so! Thanks for your vote! Report It Tell your doctor of course. i work with a vascular surgeon and he frequently orders CTA's for patients so I have some experience with the whole procedure. But most of his patients are elderly so I don't know if my advice will help. He will first order a BUN/creat test to see if their kidneys can handle the contrast because if your kidneys are weak, the contrast can cause serious kidney failure. If the levels are high then he will order them to have infusion/hydration therapy 1 1/2 before the scheduled scan and that will protect the kidneys from the contrast. And the benadryl is for mild allergic reactions because patients can break out in a rash afterwards. Not sure about the prednisone... the only thing I know about that is my mom takes it because she has Lupus (I think it's a steroid). But the doctor should know what he's doing and you're young so you should be ok. |
