Would surgery to remove a ureter alleviate flank pain due to double ureters that may be blocked?

Some years back when I was about 25 I had to have an IVP (intravenous pyleogram) for repeat UTI's. It revealed that I had double ureters on my left side and the kidney on that same side was abnormally shaped--like it was supposed to grow into two kidneys on that one side. I havent had a UTI in about 10 years but now I constantly have pain in that side, sometimes burning and sometimes sharp. I constantly feel the need to urinate and when I do go, most of the time it is a light stream or a few drops. Could there possibly be an obstruction? If so, is surgery the best option?

You really need to talk to your urologist about that. You could possibly have a blockage. In that case a stent in your ureter would alleviate the pain. Keep an eye on that kidney. It may be precancerous & need to be removed because of its irregular shape.
