Whay could the white spots on x-ray and IVP be? |
I went to my Dr. with abdominal pain and he sent me for an x-ray which showed 2 white spots in my abdomen. Suspecting kidney stones I was sent for an IVP. The IVP showed the white spots were not in my kidney's or ureter. What could these spots be? They very likely could be phleboliths (calcifications), which are very common and nothing to worry about. You need to get the specific information from your doctor. The denser something is, such as bone, the whiter it appears on X-ray. The dye of course shows as white. Unless you are familiar with reading X-rays, you would not recognize the subtle differences in the various shadows. |
