What is the full form of IVP in medicene?

It is Intra Veinous Pyelography .A radio opaque dye is give intra veinously and is tracked radiologically down the passage of urine in parts of kidney e.g.,renal pelvis where calyceal or cooecting system within kidney forms a confluence and forms the ureter on either side out of kidney which join the urinary bladder and further to the urethra. This helps diagnose any obstructive lesion like a stone. But ULTRA SOUND SCAN etc., are less dangerous and do not need injections.

Sir,
The above number 1 gentleman seems to be a doc sort of thing. given the perfect answer in detail.
But as a layman I can only say that IVP is a special type of X-ray for your kidney, ureter and bladder, taken after cleaning your intestinal gasses. (excluding urethra)
A radio-opaque dye is is injected inside your body by intravenous route and then x-ray is taken to visualise the structure of your urine secreting system.
Generally iodine compound is used as the dye. there fore sometimes chances of hypersensitivity reaction is also present.
