Who offers assistance for children who need medical equipment?

I work with a lady whose 8-year-old granddaughter has arthrogryposis, a congenital joint and connective tissue disorder. The girl's mother is having a tough time right now with finances. The family has military benefits, but I'm not sure to what extent.

The mother just paid for new braces for her daughter's legs and a new walker, but she needs a new wheelchair due to a bad wheel.

I wanted to try and see what resources may exist for this family.

Any suggestions?

The Red Cross is great for that.

If she has Vet benefits, she can go to her local Veteran's office for help there. I believe they have wheelchairs she could use or any other equipment the facility has for Vets to borrow.

contact a hospital social worker they have resources....and if the family has military benefits they might have Champus which is supposed to cover all of those things. Also look into dissability support services...get on to local HUD website for resources and contact local Catholic Charities division. If I knew what state you are in I could be more helpfull.
