Effective medicines for depression?

Hello...I麓ve been taking Cymbalta (antidepressant) for depression for 2 years. It seems that this medicine is not doing much for my depression. What are the most effective medicines to treat depression with little side effects????

There are numerous effective antidepressants: Prozac, Paxil, Celexa, Lexapro, Wellbutrin, Effexor and Zoloff to name a few. Each antidepressant has side-effects and benefits that effect each person differently. You just have to keep trying until you find one that suits you. Antidepressants alone are generally not a cure-all for serious depression. Antidepressants work best with a combination of talk therapy, positive meditation (see "The Power of the Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy), exercise, healthy diet and avoiding negative circumstances/surroundings. you should be seeing your dr on a regular basis, i have had to try a few different ones to find what is best, althought now i have been not sleeping and geting night sweats really bad, (but that could be me hitting menopause) i am on cipralex, it is relatively new, expensive but the only thing that has helped

YOu will hear this again and again. There is no one "best" medication for depression. Some work for others and some don't. Typically though Paxil is known for its few side effects....

If its not working dont take it. Most of them pills doctors prescribe are just a placebo effect. Many people who are depressed are only more depressed in the fact that they have to take pills to live a normal life. Just look at the positive things in life and go and do something for YOURSELF. Go to a favorite place for awhile, get away from whatever is bothering you.

Cymbalta works wonders for most people, the dose might need to be adjusted. 60mg is perfect for depression. Cymbalta has the least side effects for me. They might want to add a med on top of the cymbalta. Wellbutrin and Cymbalta are the best together!.

I would ask about adding somthing to the cymbalta.

truth about antidepressants is, different ones work for different people. its a haphazard trial and error approach at best. the only thing worth doing is speaking to your doc and getting him or her to prescribe something different, and explain that the ones you are currently taking are not helping.
