Why doesnt the government force the drug companies to produce medicine to create pharmaceuticals that?

really soothe and make us feel better? Why do we accept pills that have all these side effects. Why is it allowed or accepted we have better technology and scientists then this?!!!

We dont have to accept the bad side effects we should demand they do better rather than to accept it.

Um, basically because the people who own the pharmaceutical industry own the government, and the FDA is just an agent of the pharmaceuticals now. They inundate us with lots of propaganda over why things must remain that way, and hence it never gets voted out or fixed. The entire issue has instead been framed around healthcare being too expensive and the government needing to subsidize it, so all the current angsts with the health care system are just being funneled into giving the pharmaceutical companies more money.

A more technical scientific answer to your question is that modern medicine holds the notion that all things cannot be medicine unless they can also harm or kill a person ("a drug must have an LD50, otherwise it is not a drug"). Because of this, a mentality has been created which says side effects are innevitable, and the side effects are justified due to the necessary benefits the drugs create (and modern medicine in many ways has become a system of risk analysis). Furthermore, given the capitalist system we live in, it is much better to aggressively push drug after drug after drug with each having negative side effects the company "may" get sued for, than it is to spend a long time developing a few drugs that really work well.

This contrasts to many other approaches in healing (ie. Chinese Medicine, where they instead got to know all the interactions of a couple hundred herbs, and the doctors are taught to prescribe herbal remedies to completely balance out the negative side effects of treatment), but is simply a result of the amount of power the industry welds.
There are many other approaches to curing lots of diseases which work better than drugs but lack the side effects. Yet every single one of them has been rejected since they are totally unprofitable to utilize. Making a medicine that completely cures people is not a business plan, since by doing so you kill the market. It's kinda f**ked that they do this, but there is so much media propaganda behind it that no one is ever going to force them to change their ways.
It doesn't really matter what harms drugs cause or how many people are affected by them. My friend was given a drug by her optomitrist to fix her vision, and the next day had a brain hemmhorhage on the two blood vessels connecting to the eye (while getting a healthy diagnosis for every other one). She looked it up and found out this was a known side effect of the drug, but her optometrist refused to even consider not prescribing it to other people. As you can imagine, my friend has had no luck in court or notifying the FDA to have it banned, and this one will continue to be lucratively on the market for a long time!

every pill ever made or made in the future will have side effects...you cannot introduce something made in a lab into your body to change your mood, or curb your appetite, or whatever with out side effects...your body is a complex system...don't take pills, they will just be worse for you in the long run...

the government....it is all about money...lobbyists pay off political figures...that is why nothing ever happens and pharmaceutical companies have all the power...they have all the money...

People have become so complacent and do whatever the experts say. They deny that the medicines are bad for them *because the government would never allow that*
Then when people write books showing how the pharmaceutical companies don't care they say the author is a quack. So everybody sits on their easy chair being spoon fed what to believe. It doesn't dawn on them that something isn't right that they take high blood pressure medicine to cure the side effect caused by the statin that caused another problem that lead to the other and they have a pill for each and every one of them.
The pharmacies wouldn't make as much money if they sold a digestive detox for stomach bloat as they do selling the purple pill.

Synthetic medicines do have some side effects, adverse drug reaction according to the constitution of the body.
Vitamins too are poison when consumed & body chemistry does not accept it because CHEMICALS REACT WITH EACH OTHER.

You should read the book, "Natural Cures THEY Don't Want You to Know About". This author is always on TV, and his whole book is basically about your question. He has a ton of evidence that backs up his claims, and its basically all about the money. He even states that deep down, these companies don't WANT you to get better, they just treat your symptoms, not cure you! There are hundreds of natural cures that are proven to cure people from everyday illnesses to serious long-term disease, but they have never been, and will never be approved by the FDA. Hmmmmmm.

You have the right attitude but it is politically incorrect. The Big Pharmaceutical companies invest huge amounts of money into lobbying and candidate campaigns that one could say "they buy" the legislature that is favorable to them.

At the consumer level, we "ignore" the side effects for the little comfort we get when we take those pills you talk about. We have become "common sense" deprived and it's so easy to "point the finger" to "those guys". Which guys? We never put a "name" to "those guys". We just blame "those guys" for not doing us any good. That attitude has been too well fostered and pushed by the Liberals. Without VICTIMS, they can not get votes. Look at what LIBERALS did to the tobacco companies. Did the tobacco companies loose? Nope. All the Liberals did was cause the increase of cigarette prices! A few victims were given money and the liberal media had a hay day with the publicity but no long term good was done. Except for higher cigarette prices which will never see the $2.50 package of cigarettes again!

Technology and scientists can not get funding if they come out with the "truth". FDA is a classic example. Some drugs make it into the "approved" list only to be found dangerous years later and then further investigation finds the dangers were well documented and known BEFORE the FDA approved them. Money talks. Everything else walks.

The basic assumption of "standard"medicine is basically wrong - they try to cover symptoms and pretend that is curing the problem. Overregulating the hormones always causes side effects.
Very few medicines actually work as advertised, and the ones that do work often don't work very well.
Our understanding of the body is imperfect - laws won't change that. You always have alternate care as an "alternate" and you have to try both and decide for yourself what works best. Good luck.

Please don't ask the government to get more into private business. The government has enough to do just making new laws to get more people into our prison econony. We spend $25,000.00 per year to house and feed prison inmates and not nearly that much on keeping the outside population healthy.
Lock em up and then we'll feed them. Might even get a vote out of them when they get out.

There are more paid lobbyists working for pharmaceutical companies than there are members of congress. The pharmaceutical companies spend huge amounts of money to run the show the way they choose and we are letting it happen.

The solution for me is to go to a Naturopath and take no drugs.
