With all the 'pharmaceuticals' in our drinking water, what are we to do in the mean time?

I've been reading about all the drugs that have been found in our drinking water and how the big drug companys are saying that at such miniscule amounts it wouldn't hurt anyone.Ugggh! Would antioxidants pill form or vegie form help any? I smell something that reminds me of 'iodine' in my water after it sits for a night, but the water company says they don't use it....thats pretty funny seeing that I've seen it on the list of whats in your water!

I wouldn't go as far as saying'there are no possible side effects'.The reason I'm even concerned is after having my blood analyzed (I've had Fibromyalgia for 10 years)I'm showing high levels of 'cadmium', too many people I know dying of cancer.

They probably just meant that they don't add Iodine.... but it doesn't mean none is in there already.
The major thing that the article was saying (I read the same one) is that more research needs to be done. Of course the pharmaceutical companies are going to say they won't hurt anyone, but even the EPA researchers said that more research needed to be done and more data needed to be found.

If you're worried about it, I would go with the article's recommendation to use reverse osmosis water. It had the least chance of having the drugs in it, but it's more expensive than tap water. Hopefully we'll find out the answers soon.

You should have your tap water tested.

There are miniscule traces of all sorts of things in our water - not just pharmaceuticals.
You can find traces of lead, uranium, arsenic, cadmium...
You can find traces of vitamin c, thiamine, niacin...

The key word is TRACES. They are in such low concentrations that they are difficult to detect without intense, focused analysis. They are THOUSANDS of times lower than the amounts that could possibly have any effect. AND, it's not like this has just happened yesterday -- they have been there for 50 years or more. There are NO adverse effects ever reported from any of these substances in these concentrations. Don't "get your panties in a bunch" over this. It's nothing.

They say its 'trace' amounts, I don't know about you but I drink a lot of water - so wouldn't that mean that those trace amounts add up. Thank goodness I have been drinking filtered since before I could remember - as previously mentioned invest in a high quality counter-top or under counter filter. I've always questioned the $30 filters sold at walmart/zellers.

There have always been all kinds of contaminants in our tap water. You're better off doing something yourself than waiting for the government to do something about it.

My father is a RHNC and has noticed significant differences with his clients in just having them filter their water.
