Pharmacies ?

Why does it take 30 minutes to count 30 Pills? There is nothing going on in the pharmacy it is slow?

maybe the staff are newbies? if they get the count wrong or give you the wrong medication accidently, they could lose there license. gotta protect themselves first...apparently at the expense of your time.

well I work in a pharmacy and we hear this all the time. It might mean there is a problem with your insurance and we have to call them. or it might be you have no refills or the prescription is written wrong and we have to call your doctor, or it could be we can't read the doctors signature so we have to try and find out who it is. or maybe we don't have the medicine you need and we have to borrow some from else where, or it could be someone was ahead of you and those scripts have to be filled first. THere are several reasons and yes it looks like at times we might not look like we are working but I know where we are , when a patient comes in we wait on them as soon as we can and tell them we will be with them as soon as we can. i think it's a racial thing. Most people get their pills within 10 min.

Were you under the impression that your prescription is the only one they are working on? If so, you are quite wrong.

My pharmacy will fill about 340 prescriptions tomorrow. We are open 13 hours. That works out to be about one prescription every 2 minutes. We have to read the prescription, transcribe it, bill it to your insurance, count it, label it, review the medication for interactions, have you pay for it, and talk to you about your medications side effects, what it is for, and other questions you might have.

Of course, this also assumes that we don't have any questions regarding the prescription that we have to call your doctor about, or call your insurance, and also assumes that you aren't complaining about why your copay is so much.

We are also open and on our feet with no breaks or closures for 13 hours. We still have to receive shipments, pay invoices, and do all the other fun stuff that accompanies any business. And how long will you have to wait? Typically 5 to 15 minutes depending on when you show up. By the way, the "convenient times" for you are also convenient for every one else........so expect a bit of a wait.
