My doctor has said I need a portable scooter. My insurance will not pay for it.I can't afford to pay for one.

I have mulitible health issues.I don't have medicare or social security. I have great difficulty walking any distances, for short walks like around my house I use a cane. But this has made me a vertual prisoner in my home. We have Kaiser ins. but they don't pay for any devices like this. My husband works but is a brittle diabetic, so we just barley can cover our normal expenses. Any help we could get with this problem would be appreciated.

Curious... you say you don't have medicaire or social security. Do you have a social security number? If you do, then you quality for social security benefits. Look up you nearest office in the phone book, then call and make an appointment. It's not a great safety net, but it might offer more support than you thought.

Contact the Scooter Store. They can help you with payments, etc: http://www.thescooterstore.com/

I think The Scooter Store has been advertising on tv that if your insurance or medicare won't pay for one, they will give you one free. I'd check it out. Good luck.

With most ins. you can appeal the case. Ask them how to do that. They won't try to help you but ask anyway. Then call the insurance commissioner in your state and ask them if you can do something. Get a letter from your Dr. and all your back up paperwork before you start. I wish you luck. These insurance companies thank they are God these days. They tell the Dr. what to do. I hate it. God bless you.

i would call the scooter store and maybe they can help get you a chair it's advertised on television the number is toll free 1-800-391-7237
