What is your favorite stethoscope?

I am in nursing school and I cannot STAND my stethoscope. Its just cheap and it hurts my ears. I can barely hear anything. I've looked online at stethoscopes and will most likely buy a Littman or an Ultrascope. I just wanted some other opinions. Thank you!

Litmann Lightweight II SE. It comes with very good earpieces (soft, self-sealing ones). It has both a diaphragm and a bell, a non-chill rim, 28" overall length and a 2-year warranty. Comes in colors - Ceil blue, Black, Seafoam green, Burgundy, Caribbean and Lilac. Litmann was my first purchase and it will be my only one. You can buy one at a medical supply or uniform shop. You are a student. I doubt very much you'll want to spend "hundreds" on a scope when you can spend less and get a piece of equipment that will do the job. If you were a cardiology nurse, you might want a more expensive scope, such as the Litmann Master Cardiology stethoscope and even this is on sale at Jasco Uniform for 154.00. You don't need an expensive scope that costs hundreds of dollars. And in an isolation room, you don't use your own scope - you use a cheap disposable that's kept in the room. These work too.

My teacher uses an ultrascope. He would NEVER choose anything else. He has used many other stethoscopes from the very cheap to the very expensive. Ultrascopes are less than one hundred dollars. ultrascope.com. Report It

I have a Welch Allyn electronic stethoscope, and it's awesome. There are different settings for bell / diaphragm / mixed, which helps for different types of auscultation, as well as a volume knob for those hard-to-hear bruits and such. I would highly recommend it if you're willing to spend a few hundred dollars.
