My grandma just got a used walker from a community neighbor. and does not know how to use it, can you help her |
when my grandma is using the walker, should she step forward and then advance the walker? She should move the frame forward no more than 1 step depth (i.e. her arms should not be outstretched when holding on) and step into the space between herself and the frame. I would advise though that she saw a physiotherapist or her doctor to check that this walker is right for her - they are usually prescribed on an individual basis in the UK - and she would also need instruction on ascending kerbs and steps with the frame. Here's a lot of info on choosing and using walkers from the Mayo Clinic: |
